Golf ball flight can change 9 different ways, the basic three are draw, straight, and fade.

Ball flight is dictated by how the clubface is oriented to the ball. If the clubhead is open it will result in a fade. If the clubface is closed it will result in a draw. If the clubface is square then the ball will go straight.

Fade, when you fade the ball your ball flight is to the right for right handed players and opposite for left handed players. That can also create a slice which also goes to the right but its when the player comes across the ball and creates side spin.

Draw, when you draw the ball your ball flight is to the left for right handed players and opposite for left handed players. That can also create a hook which also goes to the left but its when the player comes across the ball and creates side spin.

All of these are created by the angle in which a player strikes the ball. But it can also be influenced by the wind.
