A disc is an axisymmetric wing which stabilizes in flight by spinning about its center of mass. The forces and torques on a disk, make it move through the air. Depending on its shape, weigh, curve of the edges help detemine the flight path of the disc. Most frisbees used for disc golf have an "S" shaped flight pattern, which is like the function x^3. A disc is normally thrown at an angle, this is the attack angle, which is what creates the lift of the frisbee. The angular momentum is what stablizes the disc in flight.
